I just got a Hawking UC310 camera in the mail, apparently it's based on some OmniVision chipset which is supported by by the graphics/vid port under OpenBSD. (By the way, once vid puts /dev/ugen0.00 into isosynchronous mode, it needs to know that the isosynchronous device is /dev/ugen0.01 for OpenBSD)
The UC310 has two modes, full color 640x480 and 352x288. Mine also has a very annoying dot right near the center that I have not bothered to correct in these images.
Hmmm...rather interesting...the cheapie $40 camera reacts quite differently to different lighting conditions at its various resolutions. I guess this is the general problem with CCD cameras. Albiet, with low light, the larger picture looks ok. When you get some decent light going, it's too bright for the larger picture. The smaller resolution handles these pictures much better but then you have a smaller resolution. I still have no clue how to focus this thing, the knob on the front does strange things. Of course, these problems are what make the camera fun!!
